PT Handbook Conversation: 3 Tips to Improve Your Pelvic Health

Maybe you need pelvic physical therapy?
Ok I promise I’ll stop talking about pelvic floor PT after this newsletter, anyway here’s some quick tips!
1. Sync Your Breathing With Your Pelvic Floor
Your pelvic floor is more than just a set of muscles “down there.” It plays a major role in:
Core stability
Bladder and bowel control
Posture and sexual function
A quick tip: sync your breath with pelvic floor movement.
Inhale: relax the pelvic floor
Exhale: gently lift it
This helps protect your spine and improve core coordination, especially during lifting or daily tasks.
2. Stop Clenching All Day
You wouldn’t walk around with a flexed bicep all day, don’t do that with your pelvic floor. Many people (especially under stress) subconsciously clench their:
Glutes
Abs
Pelvic floor muscles
Take 30 seconds a few times a day to relax your belly and pelvic floor. This small reset can improve comfort and reduce tension, urgency, or pain.
3. Know When to Get Help
Pelvic floor issues aren’t just for postpartum women or women in general, they affect men, athletes, desk workers, and more. Pain, leakage, urgency, or poor core strength can all point to dysfunction.
