Mini Blog: “Stress is Good”
Stress can be overbearing. We all work long hours, many people have poor sleep and don’t have time to do all the things they truly want. However, stress can be good. It builds resilience. Stress builds resilience when dosed appropriately and the system can rebuild to get stronger.
This is true for human beings as well. Properly dosed stress makes us stronger. This applies to both mental and physical. As a doctor of physical therapy, I do this every day with patients. Pain and injury require properly dosed movement. Doing nothing will not make things heal faster in a general sense. The body needs movement and blood flow to the required areas for less pain and proper recovery.
As a physical therapist, we are the experts in movement. If something hurts, come to us for the closest thing we have to a magic pill in medicine (proper movement and exercise!). We provide the appropriate dosage of movement to help accelerate the healing process and improve function. The only side effects are less pain and getting back to what you love faster :) So come check us out, we’re cool people.
Until next time,
Dr. G
